About the Laboratory

The main goal of the Laboratory of International Justice is to conduct scientific research related to the functioning and the effectiveness of the institutions of international justice. The mentioned institutions include the International Court of Justice, WTO dispute settlement body, regional human rights courts and integration associations, international investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration.
Special attention is given to current issues of interaction of Russia with the bodies of international justice at the present stage. In addition, the issues faced by Russian individuals when contacting these authorities are also in the focus of our attention.

Case Note on WTO Panel Reports in Palm Biodiesel Disputes

A case note by Yury Rovnov on the WTO panel reports in disputes brought by Indonesia and Malaysia over the EU’s biofuels regime (DS593, DS600) is published in the April issue of the American Journal of International Law.

On March 26, the Laboratory of International Justice, together with the Laboratory for the Study of Public Interest Protection under Economic Sanctions, held a round table discussion on the topic «Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change».

A lecture dedicated to the role of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC)

On December 10, 2025, the Faculty of Law at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) hosted a lecture dedicated to the role of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) in resolving international disputes. During the event, participants were introduced to the recent amendments to the SIAC Rules and received valuable insights from SIAC representatives.
