Ever since I have started working in KL 11 years ago, I have been to Melaka more than once every year. It’s near enough, it has lots of good food, why not? I have stayed in many different places and not necessarily must be in the Melaka town. It has all the necessary attractions for people to visit and I think this is also why it has been attracting Singaporeans to drive all the way from Singapore to Melaka too.
My wife has been reminding me many times that we need to somehow find a cruise to try which sails during the school holidays so that we can bring the children along for a cruise holiday. More often than not the cruises do not start from Malaysia or the choices are limited too. The numbers are certainly increasing slowly. There will be a new cruise from Singapore to Melaka starting in November 2024 which will bring even more vibrancy to Melaka.

Many years ago, someone told me that Thailand is building Kra Canal. This is a 100km water canal from the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea, cutting across Thailand. Somehow, I confidently told him that this is not as easy as simply building it. Who will finance it? If it’s Thailand, they will be facing budget deficits or needing a huge loan in order to make it happen.

My wife told me she wants to go on a cruise. I checked just before Covid-19 arrived. The price was okay. The choices were aplenty. Recently, I checked and realised that the choices are not many, prices are high and Malaysia is really not popular for people to go on a cruise. Many times, we have to fly to Singapore to do it. That’s really a very bad experience yeah. Fly to Singapore, get on a cruise, then cruise goes back to Singapore and fly back to KL? Haha. Does not seem like a cruising experience at all.
Well, someone announced it. Media reported it and now Disney has also given their clarification. Briefly, they said, NO. As for how did this Melaka exco got the nerve and confidence to announce such a news is beyond me. Probably need to wait for his own explanation then. Amazing run around the garden indeed. So, Melaka is definitely a busy place during holidays and it will be a busy place as soon as Malaysia reopens its borders to Singapore. Perhaps this is also the reason why some developers are taking a long term approach when it comes to Melaka by spending RM118 million on parcels of land in Jasin, Melaka.
