Premium Lite on YouTube differs from Premium in the following ways:
With Premium Lite, you won’t get ads on videos like gaming, fashion, beauty, news, and more. Ads however may appear on music content, Shorts, and when you search or browse. Premium Lite doesn’t include YouTube Music Premium or features like video downloads and background play.

Cancel your Premium Lite membership
To cancel your membership:
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
- Click Manage membership.
- Click Deactivate.
- Click Continue to cancel.
- Select your reason for canceling and then click Next.
- Click Yes, cancel.

Upgrade your Premium Lite membership
To upgrade your membership:
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships.
- Click Learn more under Premium.
- Click Get YouTube Premium.
- Select your new Premium plan.
- Click Confirm.
For Premium Lite users in Thailand, Romania, Australia, Brazil, we are experimenting with the addition of Background Play, Picture-in-Picture (PiP), and Downloads for a randomly selected group of users. These features will not be available on Shorts or on music content, such as official/premium music videos, Art Tracks, or user generated content that includes content from our music partners (for example: covers, dance videos, or a vlog with a popular song in the background).
