It is cumbersome to have the whole schema be defined by a list of templates, since each template can come from a different source. It would be better to define template profiles, where such a profile could be similar to the "basic templates" of the JDK (which should itself also become a profile), and the schema itself would just become a group of profiles, each with their own specific version.
