+1 here, as well. We noticed this changed when upgrading GHES, but I think the same use cases would apply to GHEC. I can think of several possibilities to address this:

This is something I would like to remove/configure via repository settings. |

This is my first time answering discussions on github and trust me I know how hard it was for me to get here. What I think should be the case is that once I click the discussions tab, I should see a list of recent discussions both Open and CLOSED ones, then I can scroll and see anyone of ti that interests me. |

This filter is also auto-applied to issues, where it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever IMHO - can anyone explain what the motivation is behind assuming resolved issues are worthless as initial results when searching for a specific problem? |

In a couple of projects I work on we have started closing discussions as a way to keep things tidy (why else can you close them?) but it feels like we get 'penalized' by this default filter because users (understandably) frequently dont find the closed discussion. I think the default should just be to remove the filter completely ("sane defaults") but making it an option would be great too. If I could contribute this feature I would 😅, please GH team! |

Today, discussions are filtered by default with the

is:openfilter.I would love to be able to remove that default filter so that visitors can see all discussions by default, even the closed ones. In our case, closed discussions have been answered and can be very valuable for community members. Also, it shows that maintainers are actually active and answering people :)
In the absence of this feature, the alternative would be to never close a discussion but I'd largely prefer to have the ability to remove the default filter.
