Meg’s Monster tells the tale of a girl who got lost in the Underworld, and her journey with a grumpy monster. Beneath its charming pixel art lies a story that quietly and gently warms the heart.
What we love: The not-so-typical journey in which monster Roy sets out to deliver the human girl Meg, who got lost in the Underworld, back to the surface. The path is far from simple, however, because if Meg cries, the world ends!

Quick tip: The game uses a turn-based command system with a twist. Roy’s HP is 99,999, making him nearly invincible, but if he gets hurt, Meg’s heart gauge decreases. If that gauge reaches zero, she’ll start crying. To prevent Meg from crying, Roy needs to play with toys during battles to restore the gauge. Timing your attacks to guard effectively is also key to preventing the gauge from running down.
Meet the creator: Meg’s Monster is developed by Odencat, a Japanese indie game developer known for creating heartwarming games such as Bear’s Restaurant and Snowman Story. This game also features their signature style of imbuing simple pixel art with deep emotions. The music is composed by Reo Uratani, and features piano and string instruments that add to the game’s warm atmosphere.
