I’ve had this game for over a year now and I think it just keeps getting better. Mechanics are super simple, but with buffs, warlord traits and deck-building, there are lots of ways you can hone strategies and increase your chance of winning. They’ve also introduced some more ways to gain cards and coins without hitting a paywall ( and lots of free stuff during special events). Lots of people were griping about hitting high level opponents or having to pay money to win. I just don’t find that to be true- although perhaps you can progress further each season if you’re buying cards and plasma. The fact is that if you won all the time it would get quite boring! The clans thing now works as well so you can join teams - and actual pvp games are a fairly regular occurrence too, which makes a nice change from the (sometimes easily outmanoeuvred) AI matches. So, if you like something you can pick up for 10 minutes or an hour and like the 40k universe (and maybe even if you don’t) I reckon this is a great game to invest time and occasionally money in.
Surprisingly Good
What name are there
I didn’t really have too high hopes for the game, considering the reputation of 40k mobile games. However it surprised me in multiple ways, I first assumed I would be held by the hand and drag few the first 30 minutes of the game, I was not. The first few hours you can already get a relatively large deck and probably pretty good cards for all the 3 groups. Another thing they did well was make all the factions split into groups, which allow you to mix and match, they also got the leader bonus pretty matched up with the tabletop in the sense that it allows you to bring troops from other factions, just without the bonuses of your main faction. It also gives you quite a few cards a day, which is always nice. The variety you can make with the decks is cool, and the cards being grounded in a universe makes a themed deck feel even cooler.I will say that some of the cards and abilities just seem off, not game breaking or seriously unbalanced, but annoying. And you have the fact that space marines are always the favourite children, pretty self explanatory to anyone who knows about 40K. Also custodian guard are pretty rubbish, and don’t feel like elite infantry, just slightly tankier, and much more expensive space marines, I mean multiple standard space marines cards deal more damage then a custodian shield captain in melee.
Worth avoiding - designed to be a money spinner

The game has potential however is let down by several major flaw, you are constantly pitted against players who are several ranks above yourself so winning is extremely difficult. This encourages to purchase packs with real world money to level up, however then you are even pitted against even higher level players. Second my special characters traits really ever activates in comparison to the opponents special traits making the chances of winning extremely rare. 3rd once the game has figured out what faction you like, when you do open packs earned in game it is rare that you will get a card from the faction that you have aligned too as a preference. 4, some factions like the Tau and orks are extremely overpowered in comparison to their points cost, therefore allowing players aligned to those factions to take lots of extremely hard hitting powerful cards at little points cost. 5 with in game power bar you will notice that you opponents power bars charge twice as quickly as your power bars. Overall worth avoiding as after 3 days you realize that the game is designed to purely try and get you to spend real world money. What a surprise from the games workshop NOT
Started promising, but...

I initially enjoyed the game, looked promising and fun and liked how you can make different hands with the factions. I have now started battling in the war and the match ups are impossible! I even bought 1 quite expensive pack of cards and it made no difference at all. Apart from the war and campaign, there isn’t much to do. Match ups in war are too difficult so I just do campaign, but then once that’s done (uses energy) you're stuck maybe waiting for a pack/chest to unlock in 6+ hours. The game gives you about 1 hour of gameplay a day if you’re lucky. You also get a shockingly pathetic amount of coins and plasma as rewards to do anything with. The real world prices are far too expensive to buy coins and plasma to get more cards to even have a chance. I know games need to make money, but try adding flash sales on your card packs, or offer more for what you’re purchasing. All in all it has potential, but right now for me it’s just a slight let down.
